Can you dig it?

No Doubt about it,
got to scream and shout it,
We're gonna Skate till the dawn comes.

For those who haven’t had the prior pleasure: welcome to the digital platform for roller skaters and anyone else who’s interested.

You can find information regarding events, classes and workshops in the various sections of this platform, directed towards stimulating rollerskating as a whole, and funky rhythm rollerskating as a specific. Regarding the latter, the photogallery and video application are important support systems to create a clearer image of what this modest, yet special discipline entails.

Quadsk8 still has a long way to go when it comes to reaching her ultimate goal: opening a roller rink in Holland’s Randstad. However, the organisation of various activities allows Quadsk8 to step closer to this realisation.

Dancing on skates isn’t only swinging and entertainment. The sum is complete when you add the physical aspect of it. Funky rhythm rollerskating is the ideal way of healthy entertainment.

In order to polish up the image of the “roller disco”, Quadsk8 is constantly developing and renewing her concept. This allows us to bring the older generation back to the glorydays of dance skating, such as the Scheveningse rollerdisco, the Energiehal in Rotterdam, and Marcanti Wheels in Amsterdam. Also keeping the new and younger generation in mind, Quadsk8 wants to bring back this wonderful culture and hopes to reach a younger audience by introducing it with a contemporary title.

So in modern terms it shall be Funky Rhythm Rollerskating, with contemporary means, but never forgetting and denying where it all began. History and retrospective are therefore an important part of making the future of skating permenantly unthinkable and unmissable.

This platform will be adapted and revised with up to date information on a regular basis. Should there be any important items missing, or changes that need to be made, please e-mail us at Dit e-mail adres is beschermd door spambots, u heeft Javascript nodig om dit onderdeel te kunnen bekijken

Quadsk8 & Vin Zee

Quadsk8 Featuring Bladie Flowness alias Funky Bebop Vin Zee

ImageRegular attendees of Quadsk8 activities and / or big fans of DJ Ron Funkytown are undoubtedly familiar with Vin Zee’s “Funky Bebop” song.

Vincent Brown a.k.a. Vin Zee a.k.a. Vinzerelli a.k.a Bladie Flowness. He started as a fanatic rollerskater in 1979, and is currently as passionate on rollerblades, as well as being creative and artistic in various ways.

Enthusiastic about what’s rolling in The Netherlands, Bladie, in cooperation with Jo-Anneke van der Molen, has trusted Quadsk8 with some true vintage rollerskate images.

Quadsk8 is providing a small glimpse of these exclusive images, as a new feature. In this intro piece you will be taken back to 1979’s Brooklyn, New York. Here you will see Vin Zee in the Empire Rollerdisco. You will also see, amongst others, the one and only Bill Butler rolling past! “Who?” you might ask? Bill Butler is one of the most important founders and inspirators of funky rhythm rollerskating, the style you still see to this day thoughout various parts of the United States! The same style you see with Quadsk8!
